Calling out all tech-enthusiasts to the most-awaited tech-fest of India - American Express CodeStreet'19, a one-stop event that gives an opportunity to understand, learn and hone your technical skills as per trends in the Fintech industry.

At American Express, we believe that change is for the better. Finding ways to help encourage innovative thinking and harnessing the power of ideas will help businesses expand and establish a culture of creativity. On this very note, let's kickstart American Express CodeStreet' 19, the flagship Technology campus event of American Express. We invite all the tech-enthusiasts from engineering colleges to participate in this tech-fest.

Brace yourselves, form your teams, Interact with innovative minds and get started with the hackathon. There is a lot of learning and fun in store for you throughout the event. We hope to see you and your team at the event; So let's quickly hit the register button!

Eligibility to participate in the Tech-fest:

Students currently pursuing any technical degree from a recognized institute in India.
Students across all graduation year, and across all branches are eligible to take part in this event.

This tech-fest is huge with several events coming your way and has the following activities for participation:

Hackathon (Open only to final/pre-final students) - Online + Offline Rounds
Other events during Offline tech-fest (Open to students across all graduation years)
- Quizzes
- Live Coding Challenge
- Panel Discussions
- Tech Booths

You can either register for Hackathon or Other events (Quizzes, Live Coding Challenge, Panel Discussions, Tech Booths) while registering for the tech-fest. Even those not shortlisted in the Hackathon idea phase can attend the tech-fest.

The following is the detailed timeline for the hackathon. The timeline for other offline events will be shared a week prior with the registrants.

Note: The final Hackathon will happen in parallel to some of the other events.

Security and Fraud Detection

As consumers take advantage of speed, ease, and convivence of managing their finances, the fraudsters have also evolved their methods of attack. Creating the right balance on providing a delightful customer experience while protecting and safeguarding them had been the utmost priorities of all organization.

Today, the financial industry uses numerous ways in safeguarding customer data and detect any fraudulent activities. Data Science and Advance Machine learning algorithms have been a key player in keeping the bad folks out.

You can also help the industry in protecting the consumers by coming up with new ideas in this space.

Scalable and Resilient Distributed Computing

In the last 2 decades, the computing industry has embraced distributed computing that has enabled providing services for global customers at an unprecedented scale. However, this paradigm shift has also introduced new challenges and patterns yet to be refined in terms of scalability, heterogeneity, security, failure management, etc.

You can pick any challenges around distributed computing and focus on providing solutions around those. One example can be around System availability: System availability is considered to be one of the important success criteria for the Fintech industry, where technologies are the biggest contributor. In this area, we would like to move from reactive to predictive monitoring of the systems to ensure that any system impact can be addressed before it actually hits the end user/customer.

Build an approach where the system health and performance can be monitored to achieve ~100% availability of the system through automation, Machine learning, etc… You can assume Enterprise level systems with multiple data centers, global user distribution, and 24x7 usage.

Payments

From cash and check to chip and PIN, the payments landscape has changed dramatically over the past years. Where once consumers had little choice in the options available to them, the near ubiquity of smart devices coupled with a wave of innovation has created a growing demand for new ways to pay.

Speed, convenience and ease of use are now considered standard requirements when it comes to making payments. There are multiple ways in which the payment industry is being disrupted by technology. Be it in the form of payment gateways, wallets or any other payment instrument.
