Congratulations to the top 10 teams! Please note, this announcement is made in no specific order.

The GHCI 24 Hackathon centers on the theme of Sustainable AI, aligning with our broader conference focus on innovation for a better tomorrow. As the curtain-raiser for GHCI 24, this hackathon represents the core of our theme, Me + We, by harnessing individual creativity to tackle challenges that benefit the collective community. Participants will work to develop AI solutions that not only address present-day issues but also ensure a more sustainable and equitable future.

This hackathon sets the stage for what promises to be an engaging, inclusive, and forward-thinking GHCI 24, the largest technical celebration for women and non-binary individuals in India. By opening the event with a collaborative hackathon, we aim to foster a spirit of innovation that resonates throughout the conference. This space encourages participants to network, learn, and collaborate on groundbreaking projects, all while contributing to meaningful conversations around tech for social good.

The GHCI 24 Hackathon aims to provide a platform where women and non-binary technologists can apply their technical skills to create impactful solutions. With a focus on Sustainable AI, the hackathon serves as a conduit for innovation, community engagement, and collaborative problem-solving, reflecting GHCI 24's Me + We theme. It empowers participants to drive change through technology, fostering inclusivity and sustainability in the process.

The hackathon is open to women and non-binary technologists, including students pursuing technology-related courses. We invite those passionate about AI, sustainability, and community-driven solutions to participate.

On 20 November, the GHCI 24 Hackathon will reach its climax as the top 10 teams gear up for the ultimate battle of innovation. These talented teams have already submitted their prototypes, which are solutions to the problem statement provided earlier. In this final round, they will present their ideas and demonstrate the potential of their prototypes to a select panel of expert judges.

In this decisive round, the jury will evaluate the prototypes based on creativity, functionality, and potential for real-world impact. After thorough deliberation, the winning team will be announced and awarded the grand prize, bringing this exciting journey of collaboration and problem-solving to a thrilling conclusion.

Be part of this exciting journey as we witness the final step in discovering GHCI 24’s brightest tech innovators!

Themes

Integrating Generative AI for Environmental Sustainability and Creative AI Innovations

Overview

Creating a solution that can be integrated with Generative AI for environmental sustainability and creative AI innovations is a dynamic theme for a hackathon. Your solution should leverage Generative AI to reduce ecological impact and innovate in fields like art, music, and content creation.

This challenge mainly highlights GenAI’s potential to protect the environment and drive innovation, balancing ecological responsibility with creative innovation. The outcome should aim to drive meaningful change by combining technology, creativity, and sustainability.

Tech stack

  • GenAI
  • AI modules and algorithms
  • Python

Key considerations

Here are the key considerations that can be followed to support your solution:

  • Scalability: The solution should be scalable and with the potential to impact a larger population beyond the initial implementation.
  • Sustainability: Ensure that the solution is both economically and environmentally sustainable in the long term.
  • Inclusivity: The solution should be inclusive, addressing the needs of diverse populations.
  • Collaboration: Emphasize the importance of collaboration across different sectors (public, private, and nonprofit) and communities to co-develop solutions.

Focus areas

Here are some references to guide you in developing your unique idea, but feel free to think outside the box. We're open to your creative and original ideas.

  • AI-enhanced environmental music: Create generative music that reflects environmental data, such as the sounds of endangered species or the rhythm of deforestation rates, blending art with environmental activism.
  • Green spaces and urban design: Utilize AI to design eco-friendly urban spaces that incorporate greenery and artistic elements, making cities more sustainable and visually attractive.
  • Eco-art through AI: Create art with Generative AI to represent environmental challenges such as deforestation, climate change, and ocean pollution. Use visual storytelling to promote awareness and action.
