Overview

ETH Canal Hackathon 2025 invites developers, designers, and builders to develop Ethereum-based solutions in a high-energy hybrid event. Spanning two weeks and culminating at the ETH Canal conference, this hackathon connects LATAM and global talent to solve real-world problems across Finance, Real Estate, Identity, and more.

💰 Projects can qualify for up to $100K in grants by deploying on the BlockDAG Primordial Testnet.

Themes

Participants must develop a high-quality Ethereum-compatible blockchain application built from scratch during the hackathon. Projects should be innovative, relevant, and deployable.

The idea of the hackathon is to focus on real solutions to real clients, which is why we are organizing the next tracks:

Tesseras Track: Tokenizing Real-World Assets for DeFi Utility

This track explores how blockchain can bring real-world assets like real estate, commodities, or businesses on chain. Teams will build Ethereum-based solutions that tokenize these assets for use in DeFi whether through utility tokens, fractional ownership, or innovative trading models. The goal is to make real assets more accessible, transparent, and usable in the decentralized economy.

Panama City Government Track: Building Transparent and Efficient Public Services with Blockchain

This track invites teams to design blockchain-based solutions to help the Municipality of Panama modernize public services, increase transparency, and build trust with citizens. Use cases may include decentralized identity systems, transparent budget tracking, tourism games, blockchain-powered voting or citizen participation tools, and digital notarization of public records.

Open Track: Bring Your Own Problem, Build Your Own Solution

Not interested in tackling challenges from Heineken or the Panama City Government? No problem. This track is for teams that already have a problem in mind and want to build an impactful Ethereum-based solution—whether it's DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, social impact, or anything in between. If it's innovative and on-chain, it's welcome here.

Blerify Track: Web3 Identity and Rewards for E-Commerce

This track challenges teams to build a plugin or module for an e-commerce platform that integrates Blerify’s decentralized identity infrastructure. The solution should enable users to validate their digital credentials at checkout via a wallet-powered QR scan, unlocking automatic benefits like discounts based on their verified status. Projects must also include basic administrative tools to track buyer behavior and purchase history based on credential IDs. Supported platforms include WooCommerce, Magento, Shopify, VTEX, Tienda Nube, and others.

BlockDAG Grant Track: Build the Future. Get Funded

This track is for the technically ambitious. Projects that want to qualify for up to $100,000 in post-hackathon grants must be deployed on the BlockDAG Primordial Testnet. This is a more advanced, developer-focused track for teams ready to build serious infrastructure or applications leveraging the unique capabilities of BlockDAG. The needs are:
