Q: When and where is Horlicks Game Development Hackathon?
A: This is a two stage event. The first stage will be held on the HackerEarth.com hackathon platform. Submissions will be shortlisted from here and sent forward to the second stage. The second stage will be an offline event held in Bangalore. Details of the second stage will be communicated with the shortlisted candidates.
Q: How many people are allowed per team?
A: A maximum of 3 developers and designers are allowed per team.
Q: What if I don’t have a team to sign up with? Can I sign up alone?
A: This is completely based on the understanding of the participant and an already registered team. The HackerEarth platform will allow single participants to form a team or request to join an existing one.
Q: Does Horlicks get to keep my code, idea and the game?
A: While the idea is yours and will be credited to you, the source code and design assets and the complete package, once submitted, will belong to Horlicks’ parent company, GlaxoSmithKline. The purpose of this hackathon is to buy out an official game that will be distributed under the GlaxoSmithKline banner.
Q: Are gift taxes applicable to the prize money
A: Yes - as per Indian Tax Guidelines, applicable gift taxes will be levied on the prize money.
Q: Will you be hiring people from this event?
A: Unlike other HackerEarth contests, there will be no hiring involved in this event. However GlaxoSmithKline may choose to work with some of the shortlisted developers, and this is not guaranteed.
Q: How do I make a submission?
A: You can make a submission via the HackerEarth Hackathon tool. The required file types, such as zip file of the code, screenshots and design assets etc., must be uploaded. You can upload links to pre-built games as well, so long as you willing to assign the game and all the rights to GlaxoSmithKline including the source code
Q: When can I submit my application by?
A: You can submit from 31st August, upto October 20th.
Q: How will submitted games be evaluated?
A: The games will be evaluated on the following criteria -
1. Completeness of the game
2. Gameplay
3. Quality of code and design
4. Adherence to milk as a theme and creativeness in horlicks branding
5. Any other criteria that GlaxoSmithKline may intimate from time to time
Q: If I win the hackathon, how and when will I get the prize money?
A: The winner will be determined at the end of the second phase of the Hackathon by a panel of judges, post which the following checks will be done -
Once you’ve satisfied the three conditions, the prize money will be transferred against the given bank account. The date of transfer/handover of financial instrument, will be communicated to you on an individual basis.
