Problem statement description

What issue are you trying to solve?

Parental engagement in a child’s education is crucial for their success, yet many parents face barriers in staying informed, following up, and involved due to limited communication channels, knowledge and resources. How can we create solutions that enable better communication and active involvement of parents in their child’s educational journey?

Overview of the problem statement

Detailed problem statement. Cover the what and why of the problem. Talk about the impact it has. What is the need to solve this problem? Give examples of issues it is causing.

This lack of engagement has a direct impact on student outcomes. When parents are unaware of their child’s attendance patterns, learning gaps, upcoming assessments, or school programs, they are unable to provide timely support. In many cases, prolonged absenteeism or academic struggles go unnoticed until it is too late to intervene effectively. Additionally, parents from marginalized backgrounds, who may already lack access to educational resources, find it even more challenging to support their children without clear guidance from schools.

For example, in rural areas where digital literacy is low, important school updates are often communicated through word of mouth, leading to inconsistencies and misinformation. Parents may not be aware of remedial classes, scholarship opportunities, or even critical issues like their child’s risk of dropping out. Similarly, in multilingual communities, school notices sent in a language parents do not understand make it difficult for them to take necessary actions.

Addressing this problem is essential to creating an inclusive and supportive educational ecosystem. A structured, technology-driven solution that enables clear, multilingual, and accessible communication between schools and parents can bridge this gap. By ensuring that parents receive timely updates, insights into their child’s academic progress, and actionable recommendations, we can enhance parental involvement, leading to improved student attendance, better learning outcomes, and a stronger school-home partnership.
