Spark Streaming Innovation Contest is based on specific rules mentioned below. Please read these rules carefully as they form a binding legal agreement between you and IMPETUS TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (“Impetus”)
YOU MAY NOT SUBMIT AN ENTRY TO THIS CONTEST AND ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE PRIZES UNDER THIS CONTEST UNLESS YOU AGREE TO THESE RULES. YOUR SUBMISSION OF AN ENTRY IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES YOUR AGREEMENT TO THESE RULES AS “ENTRANT” OR “YOU”
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
The words "include" and "including" as used in these rules mean "including but not limited to."
The names of the winners are also available by sending a request and self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Impetus Technologies, Inc. at 720 University Ave, Ste 130, Los Gatos, CA -95032, USA.
All the times are listed above are in Pacific Standard Time (California, USA). YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE CORRESPONDING TIME IN YOUR TIME ZONE.

If a team is entering the contest, it must appoint and authorize one individual (the “Representative”) to represent, act, and enter an entry, on their behalf. The representative must meet the eligibility requirements above. By entering an entry on the StreamAnalytix website contest page on behalf of the team, you represent and warrant that you are the representative, and are duly authorized to act on behalf of your team or your organization.
Impetus reserves the right to verify your eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time. You agree to provide Impetus with reasonable evidence of eligibility, as per the rules of the contest, if requested by Impetus and your refusal or failure to provide such proof within 3 days of Impetus’ request will result in your disqualification from the contest and forfeiture of any prizes.
The contest is NOT open to:
*Relatives include the individual’s spouse, children, parents, and siblings. The members of an individual’s household include any other person that shares the same residence as the individual for at least three (3) months out of the year.
THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Participants must do the following to participate in the contest during the contest registration period:
Register on HackerEarth.
Register on StreamAnalytix to get access to the StreamAnalytix Cloud instance and online documentation.
Registered teams/individuals will get an email with a link to access the StreamAnalytix platform hosted on our cloud. The contest consists of one round where teams will have to develop an application on the StreamAnalytix platform during the contest registration period.
Submission of work for evaluation:
During the contest submission period, teams/individuals must do the following to submit their work for evaluation and to officially enter the contest:
Impetus reserves the right to deem any submission ineligible for the contest based on the contest scoring criteria or other applicable reasons.
All submission materials must be in English or, if not in English, you must provide an English translation of the text description, and testing instructions as well as all other materials submitted.
Entrants must submit the submission materials within the specified contest submission period. Submission materials that are received after the contest submission period will not be accepted and will not be entered in the contest.
There is a limitation of one entry to the contest per person/team during the contest submission period but entrants may submit multiple entries within the contest submission period. For each contesting team/individual only the most recent entry of submission materials will be stored and considered a valid entry in the contest. All previous entries of submission materials will not be considered a valid entry in the contest and may be deleted after a new entry of submission materials are received for a particular team/individual.

All communications between Impetus’ and you, including the contest webpage and email communications, will be in English.
Ownership of submission materials. All submission materials developed and submitted are subject to the following rights:
You warrant and agree that any and all information contained in any submission materials will be accurate and will not:
infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, patent or other proprietary rights or rights of publicity or privacy;
violate any law (including without limitation those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising); and
be libelous, unlawfully threatening, or unlawfully harassing. You further warranty and agree that the information you provide about yourself while registering or in subsequent communications with Impetus is truthful and accurate and that your submission materials are original and, unless expressly permitted by these rules, not created with the assistance of any information about the problems not provided by Impetus.
Criteria: Eligible entries of submission materials will be evaluated by a panel of judges and scored using the following equally weighted criteria in Impetus’ sole discretion (the “Judging Criteria”):
Quality of the Application (Includes creativity, originality, and “wow” factor of the solution)
Extent to which the StreamAnalytix tool was utilized (maximum use of StreamAnalytix operators excluding Channels & Emitters, and the use of StreamAnalytix built-in dashboards for data visualization).
Quality of the entry and submission materials (Includes how well the solution is described and documented).
Ranking contestants:
Teams/Individuals will be ranked in order of the highest score first and lowest score last, and not based on anything other than the score calculated for each team/ individual. Impetus reserves all the rights for scoring and judging the competition entries.
In the event of a tie, the Impetus judging panel will re-judge the entries based on the Judging Criteria above.
Impetus may cancel the contest if technical difficulties prevent or make it unfair to run the contest in accordance with these rules with or without any prior notification.
Eligible entries will be eligible for one of the following four (4) prizes.
Winner Prize
One Grand Prize - $10,000
One First Runner Up - $5,000
One Second Runner Up - $3,000
One Student Special - $2,000
Money Prizes: Money prizes will be awarded in U.S. dollars and may be delivered in the form of prepaid card or other cash equivalent. The monetary prize will be mailed to the winner’s address (if an individual) or the team representative’s address (if a team) after receipt of all required forms. It will be the responsibility of the team’s representative to distribute the prize among their team’s members, as the representative deems appropriate. Prizes are not transferable. No prize substitution is allowed except at the discretion of Impetus.
Prize Delivery Timeframe: Within 45 days of Impetus’s receipt of the required forms.
Taxes: You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable tax laws and filing requirements. To remain eligible for a prize, you must submit to Impetus or the relevant tax authority all documentation requested by Impetus or required by applicable law within 7 days of Impetus' request or earlier if required by law. You are solely responsible for paying all taxes, duties, and other fees imposed on prizes awarded to you. All prizes will be net of any taxes Impetus is required by law to withhold.
Verification Requirement: THE AWARD OF A PRIZE TO A POTENTIAL WINNER IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION OF THE IDENTITY, QUALIFICATIONS AND ROLE OF THE POTENTIAL WINNER IN THE CREATION OF THE SUBMISSION. Impetus Technologies Inc. reserves all the rights for the final decision to designate a winner.
Winners will be notified using the email address associated with their account used to enter the contest (the submitter is the “Representative” in the case of a team). In order to receive a prize, the team’s representative will be required to sign and return verification documents, any applicable tax forms, and a declaration.
Forfeiture: You (Team’s Representative) will forfeit your prize and an alternative winner may be selected, if:
You may be disqualified from the contest and forfeit any prizes you may be eligible to receive if Impetus reasonably believes that you have attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the contest, including:
Providing false information about yourself or team members during registration or concerning your eligibility.
Breaching or refusing to comply with these rules.
Tampering or interfering with administration of the contest or with the ability of other contestants to participate in the contest.
Sharing or using from others any information about a problem (including its content or solution) before the end of a round unless expressly permitted by the contest rules or these rules.
Submitting content that:
Threatening or harassing other entrants or Impetus employees and/or representatives.
Harassment:
You may report at cloud-support-dev@streamanalytix.com any harassment, cheating, or violation of these rules by another entrant. Impetus may investigate any such allegations and all decisions by Impetus in these matters are final and binding. If you are asked to stop any harassing behavior, you are expected to comply immediately.
Hacking:
You will not modify, adapt, translate, or reverse engineer any portion of the StreamAnalytix product. Any such violation will result into immediate disqualification and other legal consequences.
THE CONTEST WEBPAGE AND ALL INFORMATION AND STREAMANALYTIX ARE ALL PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. IMPETUS DISCLAIMS ALL REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES (EXPRESS OR IMPLIED), INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IMPETUS IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INCOMPLETE, FAILED, OR DELAYED TRANSMISSION OF YOUR ENTRY, SUBMISSION MATERIALS, APPLICATION INFORMATION OR SUBMISSIONS DUE TO THE INTERNET, INCLUDING INTERRUPTION OR DELAYS CAUSED BY EQUIPMENT OR SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION OR OTHER TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. Impetus is not responsible for (i) electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; (ii) errors in transmission; or (iv) any condition caused by events beyond Impetus’ control which may affect the contest.
Not an Offer or Contract of Employment:
You acknowledge that your participation is voluntary.
You acknowledge that no confidential, fiduciary, agency or other relationship or implied-in-fact contract now exists between you and Impetus and that no such relationship is established by your submission of an entry to the contest.
You understand and agree that nothing in these rules, any rules, a submission into the contest, or an award of a prize may be construed as an offer or contract of employment with Impetus.
Severability: If any term (or part of a term) of these rules is invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the rest of the rules will remain in effect.
Translations: In the event of any discrepancy between the English version of these rules and a translated version, the English version will govern.
Governing Law: ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE RULES WILL BE GOVERNED BY CALIFORNIA LAW, EXCLUDING CALIFORNIA'S CONFLICT OF LAWS RULES, AND WILL BE LITIGATED EXCLUSIVELY IN THE FEDERAL OR STATE COURTS OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, USA;
The contest winners will be posted on the StreamAnalytix website on or before April 18th, 2017.
