Hackathon Guidelines

Please follow the below guidelines for participating in the event.

  1. You can register as an individual or as a team with up to 4 members.
  2. Registrations to be done via the following HackerEarth microsite link.
  3. A Team lead is required for each team. One who registers first will be considered as a lead for that team.
  4. A participant can be part of only one team and changing team members after Idea submission phase closes is not be allowed.
  5. You may use the Discussion tab in the microsite to partner and form teams if needed
  6. Each team shall participate through a single HackerEarth account. Please note that UST in its sole discretion may disqualify any team or participant who attempts to participate in the event through multiple D3 Hackathon accounts or any other violation of laid down policy.
  7. Team will be disqualified under below circumstances.
    1. Participants who provide incomplete, false, erroneous, fraudulent, forged, and tampered information will not be accepted and will be disqualified.
    2. Participants may be disqualified for actions deemed unlawful, obscene, inappropriate, fraudulent, dishonest, or for infringing on the intellectual property of others. Any failure to comply with the D3CODE Hackathon terms and conditions may also result in disqualification.
    3. UST reserves the right to disqualify any team or participant for any other violation of the event's policies at its sole discretion.
    4. The solution is not developed as open source.
  8. Each team would need to submit a detailed proposal of idea with below sections.
    1. Problem statement
    2. Proposed solution
    3. Expected impact and benefits.
    4. Resource requirements
  9. The event will comprise of two rounds as given below. 
    1. Round 1 - Ideation Round: A panel of judges will review all the submitted ideas/proposals and shortlist 5 teams for next round.
    2. Round 2 – In-person 24 hour Hackathon & final presentation: Each shortlisted team will enter the In-person 24 hour hackathon phase to develop their solution. At the end of this phase, each team will present their solutions to the judging panel. The judging panel will declare the winners after evaluating all the presentations from 5 teams.
  10. It is mandatory for all solutions to be developed as open source.

Note: Winners of the regional hackathons will receive the designated prize money, and the top winner from each region will advance to the Global Hackathon finale. The grand finale is a 24-hour virtual event where winners can win the grand prize money listed.
The winning team of the global hackathon will travel to Trivandrum, India, to receive their award at the UST campus on D3.
