Andrea Simonetto is a Research Staff Member at IBM Research working mainly on optimisation and its applications on quantum computing.

Bei Chen

Bei Chen is an Advisory Staff Member and Master Inventor at the IBM Research Ireland. She is a statistician / data scientist, recently started investigating machine learning algorithms using quantum computing. She is currently leading the global effort on AutoAI for time series. Before that she led multiple Smarter Cities initiatives which involved creating AI solutions for transportation and energy system operators. Bei received her PhD in Statistics from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Prior to joining IBM Research in 2012, she was Assistant Professor at the McMaster University and Visiting Researcher at the Fields Institute, Canada.

Claudio Gambella

Claudio Gambella is a Research Staff Member in IBM Research Ireland since 2016. His research interests include operations research for routing problems, optimisation for vehicle-sharing services, and quantum computing for mathematical optimisation.


Dr. Gambella has been recipient of an AIRO Best Application Oriented Paper, an IBM Research Division Award and and IBM Eminence & Excellence Award. Prior to joining IBM, he defended his PhD Thesis on 'Mathematical Optimisation for Routing and Logistic Problems' in University of Bologna, Italy.

Anton Dekusar

Anton Dekusar is a Research Software Engineer in IBM Research since 2017. His main focus now is in quantum software and algorithms.


Before moving to quantum computations he was working on software services for transportation industry, mobility as a service, and application of machine learning and deep learning techniques for better quality of service. Prior to joining IBM Research he held various positions in IBM Ireland and IBM Russia. Mr. Dekusar graduated from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Moscow, Russia.

Simon Caton

Simon Caton is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at University College Dublin (UCD). His research interests sit at the intersection of parallel and distributed computing and data mining / machine learning. Specific for the quantum domain, his interests lie in the application of machine learning to evaluate and improve the utilisation and efficacy of quantum applications.
